Jack Ruby was the man behind one of Jamaica’s biggest sound systems in the late 70s and early 80s, despite being based outside Kingston for most of his career. Ruby’s sound system was consistently one of Jamaica’s greatest, & at one point, it was probably the most powerful of all, thanks to the custom-built amplifier made by Lloyd ‘The Matador’ Daley. It featured no less than forty KT88 valves.
Ruby’s work was always considered to have exceptional character and he was responsible for getting performers like Ken Boothe and Delroy Wilson heard by a wider audience. He did all this before he finally got behind the desk and started producing some unforgettable material.
