Joseph “Culture” Hill was known as the keeper of ‘Zion’s Gate.’  He was part of a trio called ‘Culture’, and later became a solo artiste.

He was in the music business for over thirty years and had more than 30 albums.  He originally started out in the Jamaican music industry as a sound system deejay.  The talented singer from Linstead, St. Catherine, had a distinct voice and that talent gave him the opportunity to tour the world.  He named his son Kenyatta, after the President of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta.

He fell ill in the middle of a European Tour and died in Berlin.  He was 57 years old.  By that time he had catalogued a number of songs that have become Reggae anthems.
