Mark Anthony Robert Stephenson has created a symphony of accomplishments that has left an indelible mark on the world as a Jamaican. He was the first to pioneer the musical genre of the ‘reggae violin’. Also, he is the past concert master/leader of the national Jamaica symphony orchestra.
One of his earliest breakthrough recordings was with the famously known Jamaican reggae singer Beres Hammond, in which they collaborated to make a violin track on the exterminator label. This ‘violin track’ made him a musical force to be reckon with and has been used for many soundtracks in many popular Jamaican songs we know today.
Since then, he has been one of the most sought-after violinists in the world and has appeared on many international platforms such as Rebel Salute, Reggae Sumfest, Jamaica Jazz & Blue Festival, Black Entertainment Television (BET), A Wedding Story on the American television network TLC and on the Pentagon TV that is primarily viewed at the White House.
Adding to this, he has also been the headliner on many international tours around Europe, Japan and many other countries around the world. One of his most prestigious tours, has been the US Military tour in which he entertained the troupes (Army, The Navy and US Marines) for seven years. He has also worked with many famous movie stars, such as Steven Seagal, Jamaican born, Sheryl Lee Ralph and many more. He also has performed for many distinguished diplomats and world leaders such as the Honourable Minister Louis Farrakhan, former leader of the Islamic movement in America and the Honourable Hugo Chavez, former president of Venezuela.
