Circa 1944 – September 15, 1983

Michael James Williams, better known as the dejay Prince Far I, started his recording career in the late sixties, when he cut “The Great Booga Wooga: for Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee.

However, his first hits came when he teamed up with producer Joe Gibbs.  This success enabled him to finance the setting-up of his own “Cry Tuff” label.  Rough charts delivered over tough riddims became Prince Far I’s trademark.  The deejay’s life and career came to an end when on September 15, 1993, Prince Far I was brutally killed during a robbery at his home in Jamaica.
